The commercial kitchen we work from is not approved as a nut, gluten or dairy free kitchen.
We are able to make substitutions based on your allergy so when you sign up, respond to the welcome e-mail with your substitution needs.
We have gluten free flour, use Bragg's gluten free soya sauce, and Tikinyada gluten free brown rice pasta. The best part? Everything comes in pieces (except for sauces) so if you wish to make your own substitution it's super easy!
Most of the meals are vegan, however, we do use honey and fish oils in some of our sauces.
We don't provide any protein or dairy so this makes it ultra flexible for your preferences
We include your jar deposit of $10 monthly in the price of your meal kit to cover the cost of jars and produce bags. We appreciate you bringing them back each week so we can refill them the following week for you!
We would like to offer options in the future, however, our aim is to provide people with an in-season cooking experience and our chef, Fiona Lewis has been working her tail off to create recipes that coincide with the produce availability. We started 1 year ago in February 2020 and hope to expand eventually to offer more and more choice. But for now, you can always add your own little twist on the recipes we provide, and even send your suggestions!
The recipes we provide take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. The longer ones are things like hearty soups, and home made pizzas or roasted squash. It's a great learning experience and if you count the time you save from not having to make a trip to the grocery store, you're way ahead! Some people find making the recipes all at once saves time during the week, others pre prep longer ingredients (roasting squash) while making their first dinner the night before.
If you're pressed for time, try the Take it Easy menu, where recipes take under 45 minutes to prepare.
You can order a double portion for a family. However, we suggest you order the regular size for the first month. Kids aren't always up for the strange vegetables we plate up so be aware this may be too adventurous for their taste buds!
Some find the Take it Easy a more sure thing and, depending on the appetite, some families have found ways to simply stretch their meal kits with extra protein, stock, and/or carbs.
